Aussi pieux que vertueux, Tancr\u00e8de voit la guerre comme un acte de foi scell\u00e9 dans le sang vers\u00e9e au nom de Dieu et garde les yeux fix\u00e9s sur J\u00e9rusalem, but tr\u00e8s officiel de la croisade. Malheureusement, il r\u00e9alise vite que les motivations des autres crois\u00e9s &#8211; son oncle en t\u00eate &#8211; sont bien loin d&#8217;\u00eatre aussi pures. Par son obstination \u00e0 trouver une voie en accord avec ses id\u00e9aux, Tancr\u00e8de voit s&#8217;offrir \u00e0 lui des choix impr\u00e9vus et s&#8217;ouvrir une destin\u00e9e vou\u00e9e \u00e0 changer le sort du monde&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dans un premier temps, on se laisse embarquer par la reconstitution m\u00e9ticuleuse des d\u00e9buts de la premi\u00e8re croisade et les portraits psychologiques un brin d\u00e9rangeants mais fort cr\u00e9dibles des personnages de l&#8217;\u00e9poque. Puis peu \u00e0 peu le propos se centre sur les divisions de l&#8217;islam &#8211; explor\u00e9es en toute \u00e9rudition mais fort clairement &#8211; et insensiblement, les dissonances s&#8217;installent, on s&#8217;interroge, on v\u00e9rifie d&#8217;un \u0153il quand m\u00eame, oui c&#8217;est bien une uchronie, on le savait d&#8217;ailleurs mais la v\u00e9racit\u00e9 des premiers chapitres nous l&#8217;avait fait oublier.
